Description
“Tristeza”……Spanish for sadness. They are the humble common people. Every Sunday, wearing their best inexpensive clothes, they come to the squares of their little towns to have some fun, eating, and chatting with their neighbors, but for moments their eyes turn to nowhere and get full of sadness……like if they would remember the painful moments of their lives, but more than that, like if they would know that their sorrow could not, and will never be changed……but maybe there is even something more, a sadness larger than their own lives…..the pain of generations of poverty, the sorrow of a race and a culture coming to its end after centuries of colonization and now succumbing to modernity……but I can see something bigger in their eyes…..a sacred dignity that inspires me respect.
Maybe the camera did not capture all that……Perhaps this is only my imagination or maybe is my own sadness looking for a mirror.

You conveyed in your description the many emotions present. An amazing photograph.
05/17/08 @862
technicals aspects are not as good as your usual... not as sharp
crop could be better
eyes are a bit dark
lol once in a while you post a flawed picture haha
good work

Looks like you must have had difficulties with the strong light which in turn seems to have caused some "overexposure". You handled those areas (hair and shoulder) quite well in post editing.
Still wondering about the slightly blurred eye. I guess it fits the description and her mood.

I was afraid that dodging or burning some parts of the face would ruin the mood.......the dark eyes for my taste went along with the sadness.
About sharpeness.....It is a 300 mm focal length and my Tamron is not the best.
I did several versions and croppings......I ended only cropping a little from left and bottom....... many variations are possible.

And thanks to you all!
I am not trying to excuse myself.....but sharpening would put the accent on details....and I think this is about emotion.

No indeed you shouldn't leave just yet. I'm not allowing you to
This picture shows again an incredible emotion, you explained it very well.
every wrinkle and every hair in this picture tells its story. Its just beautiful, but sad in another way.
I love the way you capture the emotion of a person in your pictures, and its probably not even half the emotion you'll get if you meet those people in person, like you do.
Very nice.
