Description

On a holiday one of us went for a dip in this small pond. A river runs through the forest and feeds the pond which flows over the edge of the cliff creating a waterfall.
It was a beautiful place. The water was freezing, but the surroundings and noises were one of the most spectacular I have ever been to. I hope I captured a small part of it.

The far background is perhaps a bit too hazy but I love the capture and idea of this photo. You have caught the feeling of the landscape well and the exploratory aspect (with the walker) fits in very nicely.

Out of interest, what part of Aus is this?

Sweet! This seems like a great place to take photos. Sometimes with such awesome places like this though its hard to photograph the greatness you see with your eyes. I might suggest maybe next time you may want to try an HDR shot of this so you can properly expose the hills/mountains in the distance and also bring out some of the detail in the foreground as well. Maybe even just do a double exposure with the shot you have now, and one where the sky/distance is more defined and combine them. Just a couple thoughts and options you may want to look out for next time when there is such difference in lighting. Hope this helps :)

An excellent job doing this with a non-HDR format. Very good choice of exposure!

I agree with Dan about trying this with multiple exposures and some HDR work.

Nice scenary.
The person maybe off center.

Better control of light behind him.

Very very very nice. I'd recommend a polarized filter to help the bright sky. Still, very very very nice photo.

This photograph gives feeling of being on a precarious edge as this person is as they walk across the flowing waters. The darkened woods frames subject nicely, although as moserArtist stated background lighting could have had better control. Log just to persons' right competes with subject, if person were slightly more left it may have balanced the two silhouettes out.

Thanks for the comments and great suggestions all, yeah that bright background was a pain! You know that I actually don't know how to do a HDR, I know the concept, but i will definately look it up! Thanks again!!! :)

Really like the silhouette.

Would crop off the top half portion with the white sky, it's a bit distracting.

Maybe try working in some better contrast on the background trees.

Try to use the selective color on the white to make it blue.
