Description

I made this for our event over at Pixelbrush (Myths). I made this more as a drawing, rather than painting, and it was fun not messing around with colours, or tiny details for once.

This is Cthulhu himself. As I'm a big Call of Cthulhu buff, and never got the chance to paint the dude yet, I gave this a go, just for fun.

You can see the progress steps in my event-topic here: http://www.pixelbrush.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3115

Made using Photoshop CS2, and a Wacom Intuos tablet.

you are by far one of the most talented artists...your imagination is limitless, well your application of all mediums is flawless...It floors me that so few people take the time to comment on your work when they could learn so much from you if they took the time to ask....

I liked the concept at the first sketch better. The flat head looks weird - but it's your choice ^_-
Highlights are too many imo and I'm really not sure about the perspective, as well as about the anatomy of his hands. The right one seems kinda too small for his head proportions.
My favorite here is the boat and the water - look great!
I don't think you need all this space above his head - it lacks details comparing to the other space at the picture - some clouds could solve the problem though. Nice work

Wow Henning, this is insane. Great value composition. In terms of textures, I think this is your best work - very, very convincing. No critiques on my part.

seeThrou: Wow, thank you very much, I feel honoured. Not sure how much my random blathering would help anyone, though :p

Crow: Hah, careful what you're chanting for, it might just awaken something.

curlyhair: Thanks for the critique :) There might be some issues with anatomy. I tried to achieve a sense of depth, and the hand to the left is quite further back than his head. I might have failed getting the foreshortening on his arm right to communicate this well enough.

cgaddict: Thanks for your kind comment, George

Everyone else: Thank you very much for taking your time to look and to comment!

Cthulhu always reminds me of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Its funny seeing the version of Cthulhu in that show and then seeing your awesome adaptation. Really kicka** I must say.

It's... just... unbelievable, that human can do something like that!

Cthuluscious! Love the texture, the creepy mood, his eyes... well, all of it. Supreme work, Henning.

By the way, did you know I painted one of Cthulu's wives?
Yeah, blasphemy. I know.
