Cool! :)

Could you please explain to us how you reasoned with your camera settings...
Aparture: F20
Exposure: 1/1250
ISO 200
and all this at focal length of 200mm... :p

I am just a bit surprised at the long distance you took this at.
In my opinion it is not as sharp as one could expected or? I know this is a small bugger but the sharpness could maybe be more all over... :o

@Elite moserArtist: Patrick, I used the high shutter speed to compensate for camera motion, as I was hand-holding the camera. I chose f/20 in order to maximize my DOF without cutting out too much light. I used ISO 200 to further increase the light sensitivity; I didn’t go up any higher because I was concerned about noise. While I was using a focal length of 200mm, the end of my lens was only 6 inches (12 cm) from the subject. I wanted to fill the frame with the subject in order to capture as much detail as possible on the insect’s most interesting features. I could have moved farther from the subject in order to bring all of it into focus, but I’m afraid I would have lost a degree of detail all over as well.

Make sense?

Nice work! Hadn't you posted another shot of a cicada-type insect a while ago? The title and compo seem familiar. I don't think I'd like this shot nearly as much if it weren't for the red eye (I considered a cheesy "red eye reduction" joke, but then thought better of it) -- that's definitely the attention-grabber (thumbup)

@Elite, GFXartist sponsor Byonder: Brandon, I think you’re thinking of this photo: Ballad of the Cicada by Elite, GFXartist sponsor sdavis75 . The cicada is about 15 times (!) larger than the little guy pictured here. Cheers!

Now this guy on the other hand might not be so cute as the spider! :)
A good capture with good DOF.

Fantastic capture. I am really impressed with your style. Reminds me of the gorgons from Valley of the Winds. (Well, I guess it's called Nausica now.)
