Description

Second commissioned image for Mason.

I enjoyed painting this one thoroughly. For all that it is flawed, as all my images are, I smile when I look at it, at the moment :] And my client was very happy.

~
"From darkness, to light, for you -"
Whispered, a breath of honey in the air tinged with emeralds.
"I turned my back on my friends,"
A rustle of leaves. A soft trail of air against a cheek. Locks of ashes and ebony.
", I turned my gaze from my family,"
Fingertips, alabaster pale and softer than ice,
", and you - you turned my lips from yours."
His palm drifts like a feather against the trunk of a tree.

Rough, the bark. Digging into his palm. It should have been a caress. It should have been her, but it is not.

"From darkness, to light, for you -"

Eyes, closing.

"but you... pushed me back into shadows."

The colors--the FOILAGE...simply phenomenal. I love that you've centered the highest contrast around the boy so it looks like there's a subtle spotlight on him. Excellent!

:) Exactly what Azhrarn said ;) Excellent! It has a movie look to it, as if I just paused a scene while watching this beautiful and enchanting fairy tale...*dreams of a movie with Linda's characters and stunning work*

Beautiful but your man are little bit gay, are they not?

Exquisite work, Linda...as always. His pensive gaze alone is enough to study for a long while, and then the minor details start to stand out... Wonderful. :)

Thank you so kindly, everyone :] It's not often that, even the day after, I feel happy with a picture. Barring his feet (I always have issues with his feet) I am quite pleased with how this came out - a rarity for me, I promise.

So, I'm ever so joyful to hear that others enjoy it as well

Oh, and Dogperry: you used the gay word, not I ;] I paint men as I feel they would appear in a world of fae and fantasy. I also have the absolute liberty to paint them however I see fit, as this isn't reality :] Soooo... they're not 'gay', they're beautiful and delicate, rather than gruff and conan-like.

The background is really detailed, i will burst my veins just trying to do that, but very inspiring~ Especially the wing, a new species of wings is now in my encylcopedia of wings~ haha~ nICE NICE!!! +5

Of the two pictures I -really- love this one. The hues are lovely, muted yet rich, and the overall feeling is wonderfully tranquil. I am drawn to the boy's gaze -- it's a blend of a revery with a sense of pride...

Television and pop-culture make gender roles black and white.

It comes to question if we had no tv, books or radio for examples, what would we consider "manly" and "womanly"?

Its nice to see artists that are not so naive as to cater to popular steryotypes

Sorry Enayla, I got used to macho fighter paintings, something like Justin Sweet illustrations. I really find your picture beautiful and mystic.
