I like the subject matter, and it's an interesting idea! I think I would like to see just a little more detail, and some more color variation too.

mmh more details wouldn't be bad..
especially where the water meets the lava
and try not to use the smudge tool that much

I have changde some , and added more intensive colours..

Better, it's getting there!

I would suggest looking at a photo or two of lava hitting water to get a feel of exactly how it looks. Try searching Google for that.
