Description

A few role-playing characters of some friends' and mine. The bird-bearing boy on the left is Yuki, a traumatized youth who speaks only in poetry. The goofy-looking mage in the middle is Duane, who's actually a zombie but he's wearing a magickal glamour so the picture can maintain a G-rating. The little Drowish kid on the right is Shar'yah, squire in training. Duane raises the two kids as his own since their parents each abandoned them (mostly). Happy little dysfunctional family.

Duane's summoning some smoke eels for Yuki to practise his wind magicks on, and demonstrating manipulation of environmental objects for Shar's edification.

This was a lotta fun to paint. Done from scratch in Photoshop7. Do check out the full version, there are a lotta little anal-retentive details in this.

Fantastic piece! Great detail! I remember when I joined this site your last image was in the number one spot for ages, I thought that was part of the design until it moved! :) lol
I can see this one being up there for a while too!

Very well done!

Beautiful painting, although I can't help but feel like it should be at least 3 seperate paintings. All the characters seem to be a bit too crowded into the picture plane, and don't really seem to have any sort of connectivity between them (aside from your description). Maybe it just needs to be taller and wider, so as not to feel so cramped? As far as the technical skill side goes though, it's extremely well done. Lovely job.

The brown-skinned figure is kind of lost in the brown cloak, don't you think? Textures couls use some more distinction... but overal, excellent work.

truely beautiful.. nice story to boot.. do the kids know he's a zombie? that'd be a trip.. zombi adoptive father.. it would be intriguing to see the pic without him having his glamour...

Is the "full version" the reall full version? The details are incredible, there are so much to look at. It's like a storybook time with a freaky twist Great work!

Amazing, the colors are great though it might work better if they had more connetivity between them but other than that it's an awesome work of art, well deserving of a perfect score.

I don't like Duane's hair! :p Despite my personal tastes, this picture is drawn really well. The colours are effective, but those black trees stick out a bit from the autumn-leaved ones. But the character concepts are amazing (pure jealousy at the imagination!) :)

This, like the your other pieces, is amazingly good! The colors, proportion, concept, you name it, its all in its due place.

Congratulations
