This is my first work with OpenCanvas2. I choose to represent a couple of young fairies in order to participate to ~Enchantedforest 'contest. In my opinion fairies are asexual so I paint them with childish, soft appearance. In this case they are fairies that inhabit a lake therefore have dragonsflies's wings and seat on waterlily leaves.

There should be more shadows casted from the faeries I think. They dont really sit on the leaf now.
The flower is very beautiful but there's the same problem - the flower is just there dont really fits in - its not 'embedded' in the image. The leaf near the flower should float into the water I think. One cant actually see that. The water is very hard to recognise too...

U should work on the image as a whole a bit more - now its just too flat and has no depth the single 'elements' are just there and dont correspond to each other.

Keep it up and u'll maybe win the contest...

Yes, that's the problem. The space is not defined here at all, no feeling of depth and relationship of objects. Also, some places are much more thoroughly detailed than others which are left as basic blots, which gives a rather unfinished impression - this looks like work abandoned halfway through. You'd do well to work on it more, enhancing the shadows, working on the space and bringing the color scheme more together (right now, the leaves, the bodies and the flower look rather like they were cut out of different pictures and pasted together).

The back round is really well done. A bit blured, but quite realistique. I went to your homepage and the scetches are very nice.
