Can you go into major details on what opacities you used, what filters you used, how many layers you had, what different hues of red you used, and what color your background was, and how the idea came about, and what inspired it. and the whole pizazz.
I'd like to know, before commenting on the piece...And it would be VERY nice to know how you people make these works.

1) rarely are filters used in pics like these
2) the colour of the red would be about #A1221A
3) BG would probably be #1A1A1A
4) the lightbeams would have been done with the airbrush tool, light grey colour, airbrush pressure of about 1%, no spacing for the brush, etc...
5) Try these things out for yourself

Very well done Kalo +7

I really like the lighting and amosphere on this one. Would a rose growing in a sewer smell as sweet?

Is there a reason for everything but the rose being neutral gray?

Ewik

 01/04/04 @866

arenhaus, why are you so obsessed with neutral grey? Even when no one can see this you found it everywhere...(:
Beatiful work...poor rose...

ACTUALLY...the rose is red, and technically, the stem is green, and they are two different parts....so "Is there a reason for everything but the rose and it's stem being neutral gray?"-would fit, ne?
And that's true..
Did you have a reason, or will it be mysterious?
And thank you skip, I'm working on a piece now.
my first actual dedicate dpiece.

Actually, the atmosphere has very slight yellowish/green hue to it to give a little bit of gloomy feeling to it. I didn't intend people to notice this color, but affect them unconsciously; much like snowangel( it has little bit of cooler gray in the background). I didn't want to give the atmosphere too much color, because then it will take away from the focal point of the picture, the rose. There is another reason for the gray, but jeez... i just can't find a word to describe it. Sry i just don't know how to explain it.
I used about 4 layers(2 for rose, and the other for light and steam), and i used ps for the atmosphere. I filtered one layer with clouds, and set it to soft light with about 54% opacity to give it a little moist and steamy atmosphere.
Hope this answers some of your questions.

Very nice, I love the atmosphere in this one, I can feel the moisture in this piece, it looks very damp in there. Good job on accomplishing the "moist" feeling in this.

Thanks for the extra info Kalomus :) Saw this a few days ago but didn't comment... I just noticed the little butterfly too. Although a filter was used, it was used well, I would not be able to tell if you hadn't mentioned it. :)

A few months ago, I saw this picture in this site by pure casuality. Because of this piece I started to get interested in digital and normal painting, and now I'm one artist more.

I haven't scored this piece yet because my maximum score is +7. I'm waiting to have a higher maximum score. Since that day, I won't vote.

I supose this is an extremely good comment about your artwork
;)

Edit: Hum, I already can vote up to 8... I'll wait a little more...
Edit 2: Now I can ote up to 9... just a little more for the 10... (you'll be thinking I'm mad :S)
Edit3: YES! it has been difficult (abou 4 months of work) but I finally can vote up to 10. You deserve it!
