Description

I've always loved distorted anatomy. Bending it to your will to further dramaticize your subject is something I have been trying to work on forever.

I just hope you all like it. Thanks for everything!

Thanks! Well, you know...when I was reaching the end of this one I thought, should I add more wisps and maybe a few more hanging down with highlights, but ultimately I thought it might detract from the face and eyes especially. So, I opted no for more hairs. But, don't think I didnt consider it! :)

Nice piece. The feathers are maybe a little stringy-looking, compared to the nice forms of the girl, but otherwise very good.

I like the style you used to paint the head. She looks like an ancient divinity, maybe from south america... she's also so similar to a girl i know! Great artwork. +7

Thanks, very much! I didnt give the feathers in the wings a polished look because I was afraid they would detract from the focal point which is the angels face, and more importantly, the eyes. Again, this goes with my thought about adding more strands and wisps of hair. But, I definitely did think about this point, too. Thanks so much for the crit and comment.

What an interresting painting. The facial geometry of the character is captivating; it looks like if it was sculpted in her flash. And here, the lighting adds so much to the expressive dimension of the portrait, I guess I would look at it for so much time. In fact I've been tasting the "rhythm of shades" for quite a long time already. Hum. But I was wondering there, why did you choose to paint a background with such a texture? Playing with the concept of focus=resolution maybe? Just wondering.

Thank you for giving me link the link by the way ;)

Avatar mol

 08/06/04 @022

thomas, thanks for the in-depth comment! The background was made to pull the viewer to the area I wanted in focus which was her face, her eyes. :)

Thanks a lot, everyone! I can't believe I made the top 10...this has been one of my goals, corny or not. :p

She has a lovely face. I think were very successful with the distortion of her features. Good :) I think I would like to see another one of her and those eyes you agve her. they capture a feeling as if she's used to crying.

Definitely your stongest post. Better rendered with a good sense of mood. The distortion helps the piece. Great work!

Like everyone agrees, nice mood!!

Wish there are slightly more details for the feathers on her wings, but in a sort of 'blurred out' way. Just an unnecessary opinion.
