Description

And some work from the art school: this one is for the Illustration class. We were given the task to illustrate, among other options, a number. I picked eight. The first thought was to paint an oddly-shaped (in fact, eight-shaped) waterdrop I came across while browsing for references, but the teacher disagreed on the basis it was 'not telling one much'. Time was running out, and what you see now was a desperate last-minute idea, definitely inspired from the brief research I'd made on corsets and waist training (which I found it way more unhealthy than I thought it was, by the way). He was okay with the suggestion, and he never got to see but the finished result, which he asked to be included in the school's illustration exhibition in summer. =) I am tempted to suppose that, in the end, a pair of exaggerated buttocks either "tell" one something, or are just eye-catching enough. Damn. =P

Nice job, beautiful work on the wimples in the fabric. I want to see more highlights but I think that's unrealistic. It's neat how you did eight crosstitches between the top and the bow ;) +8 (max)

Very well done! I like the details on the lacing and the textures in the fabric and the background.

Looks painful!!!

Symmetry is nice and I like the way the corset looks "satiny".

I seen this yesterday when you posted...
let me say very nice work
but I think the strokes in her fanny area need to be more smooth and edges need to be more not as soft like you have it
and maybe more shadow at the end of her corset and under the laces
I use to make corsets so I know where all the boning goes
in the back you only have two metal boning so it looks.....there should be 4 to 6 in the back depends on the style of the corset.
you did get down the leather feel of the corset tho...
I would have taken your post and with arrows show the parts that needs work but I wont....I don't wanna unless you give me permission too..
9+

thanks everyone =)

kittyKat, no need to. It was a little hastily done because I had to hand it in the next morning. When it's to be presented in the exhibition I'll polish it up myself. Thanks for the offer anyway. ;)

I like the concept and the production. I suppose cleaning it up for the final (as you said you would) would be my only suggestion.

Nice and big one. I almost would like to see more of a photorealistic. It looks little flat to me. I mean, it's great and everything, but there is room for improvement.

This is awesome!!! I know what you mean about corsets being unhealthy I researched them a bit once and felt the same way. Anywho, this is very cool. To me it says more than just an exaggerated bootum...it shows how far women will go for that perfect figure 8. It's amusing and sad at the same time and your colors have conveyed these moods well... as well as the fact that her back is turned as if she is somewhat ashamed...maybe I'm reading to much into it I need to get out more...anyway, great work! :))

I like this piece because it show both the subjective and objective proportion of the Female form in one bold statement. Subjective in to how vanity can drive the look of ones body by the shear though of how one sees ones body. Objective in how the female form is view by the outside as an object of desire in the mind. You may know this but the female for is regarded as a pleasing sight to both men and women psychologically which is why the objectivity of the female form is used in aesthetics more than the male form. Female as seen as sexier than males in aesthetics, but it will be interesting to see how this perception will change as metro sexuality in males becomes more widely accepted.
