Great job, I love you the way you mesh the old design of a temple into something contemporary.

excellent... you say the tower of babylon, sure, but what came to mind was an interesting article I once read that discussed the trends on the old aztec (or maya? i have a hard time remembering which is which) in the years prior to the arrival of the europeans. Since the europeans had been tooling around for quite a while to africa and other places, they'd built of some minor defenses against foreign infections... but the mesoamericans hadn't, and so were laid to waste my more than just spanish weaponry. But in study of their movements, conquests, mergers, etc, it seems apparrent now that that mesoamerican empire was on its way to becoming a notable power and were not far from beginning their own of exploration. Had the europeans given them a hair more time before their arrive, at the very least they would have had the time to build up their own immune systems versus foreign soils and may not have fallen so easily to spanish assault, if at all. This is also the plotline of a novel I read... straining hard but I can't recall the author... anyhow, that's what I thought about here... what if the aztec empire had not fallen, what if it continued to this day and beyond?

This two planets in the background are very unrealistic.
And its very unrealistic that somebody could see stars !

Avatar Torque03

This is such an awesome piece except that the perspective is wrong, just like in Elysium. You've placed the horizon much too high, so that the building would have to be leaning backwards at about a 60 degree tilt from the horizon. May I recommend that you get an art book that teaches perspective and study up. Because you have tons of talent, and are so close to excellence. Hope this helps.

Avatar Rochr

 05/23/05 @993

Thanx Torque. However, in this case the perspective is just right. The reason the tower looks like itīs leaning, is because i always use a slight zoom in my scenes. Itīs a trick to get more depth in the scenes.
Itīs kinda like standing at the foot of a very tall building, looking straight up. Same effect. :)

Wow, i saw that you commented on one of my pictures, & i saw your name first, i wondered, is it really the masterful Rochr?! & yes you are! I now behold your stunning & beautiful art here at gfxartist!! :) (Thus i added you to my favourite artists ;))

Besides from my admiration of your works, this is yet another example of why you are a great artist, even if it is fiction, like you said. Personally i dont find it hard at all to appreciate something as intricate & beautiful as this; Indeed so much detail, so much depth, great colours & a seemingly nice composition. The theme is so dreamy, & yet, this old feeling theme of babylon is given a new touch with a hitech structure, great!

I also like that planet scape in the sky, again ti adds to the eerie dreaminess, there is nothing i dont like about this image, or any of your images it seems so far. Keep up the fantastic work! This deserves my max 7/7 score! :)

Rudolf,

I have recently 'discovered' your works,
and I must say that you have some unbelievable
modelling skills.
But it's more besides the technical perfection, it's the mood
and emotion you bring into your artworks that really make
you standout from the rest

Inspirational!

Superior work...excellent.

Avatar Stormchild

 08/30/06 @464

Beautiful artwork. Great perspective; I think that's what really makes this one work. I think the tower and trees should be a little sharper; it would give the scene a little more depth and realism. The sky is really stunning though.

Very well done.
