Description

I had never painted a horse/unicorn before... thought it would be an interesting challenge. I also wanted to play around with color and background texture.

I really like this piece. It has a nice look to the whole image. The unicorn is very cool but I think it is the background/foreground that really makes the image. Good job

I agree with the background/foreground blur, added a lot of depth to the image. The color of the unicorn looks as if it generated its own lights.

Very nice image. One thing that bothers me about the image is that one of the foreground elements (a plant?) interferes with the line the disappearing font let leg of the unicorn should make. At first sight it looked to me as if the unicorns left leg was bent at an unnatural angle and visible through the foilage.

I like it. the blurred plants make it look like your there looking at some sacred beast that you wouldn't be able to see w/o sneakin up on it. great job.

The background is really lovely. The colors rock! The only thing wrong is that the unicorn's back is not very well shaped, the chest lacks the muscles/protruding bones/hollows that any fit equine has, and the chest+bottom of neck is too wide. And what happened to it's other foreleg? Even with the fade, you still would have seen the beginning of it.

hehe sorry. I love horses though, so I notice these little things :) I love this painting. Excellent job on the head!

Did you use pic reference for the horse? I swear I've had a horse like that floating around on my hard drive a while back...
