Description
I did this character (I know... another girl!) with Expose in mind. As my last piece was an Angel (sort of), I thought this one should be a Devil (sort of!). All in Photoshop 6 but with a few experiments with texture brushes and an overlay for the BG in Photoshop 7. I really must thank Kyena, Matt Dixon and others for suggestions and advice on this one.EDIT: I've put up a link to an alternative version I did, without the graphitti, but different wings. This messed with the original idea, so I left it as is.

Full marks from me for a cool concept, an amazing rendering and a piece that is just total eyecandy to look at.

It's nice to see something a little darker from you =)

I love the the grey showing on the flesh (looks old master-ish) and the excellent attention to the tension of the "saluting" hand/arm, and the hand gripping the spray can - very convincing and sells it for me.
The "feel" of the blouse and boots are great, the plaid skirt not so much so - it looks plastic rather than like cloth - that is an extreme nit-pick as overall the variety of textures in this are great.
Someone mentioned watching this evolve - do you have a WIP posted somewhere?

But every girl you paint has the same eyes and lips.
try to make some variations.
keep it up!

I thank you that have seen my figure.
And your job I remember,
She even was the leader on a site.

Her ungirly hands were the only things that caught my eye, but I actually think they add to her tough look. Looks like she could crush that spray can if she felt like it

This is just mindblowingly amazing, and just too cool!
I love the way you paint your female characters, can´t wait to see more of them so please don´t stop painting girls.
Top score from me!

Medrano -
XiaoYu - Yeah, the hands are too like mine! I'm on the case...
LadyHydralisk - Haha! It's meant to be a mixture of intense, with a slight grin, and a touch of superciliousness (phew...) - is that a real word? Her expression comes across better on the link pictures.

AAarghhh!!! Don't wanna hear that! WHEN may that be?!!
I wrote Michael Whelan asking him about his smooth painting technique in acrylic once, and he told me "I give a detailed explanation in my new book coming out later this year - if you can wait for that..." Two years later the book finally came out and I'd since switched to oils by then. (sigh)

Digital Dust - Heh! Sorry - A quick description from me is I block in areas of colour with the hard edged brushes in PS, varying the pressure, and then use the softer ones to blend the tones. I'm trying not to blend as much though, as I like seeing more 'painty' work myself, but I always end up working the way I do! It's difficult sometimes to re-educate yourself in the way you work...

I'm a big fan of your work man, and I agree with DD, a WIP would be awesome. I would crit some more, but I'll just be echoing the praise listed above.

The hair makes me think that it's real and she has dyed it many times as it has that naturally fried look that most goths have and I LOVE IT!!
Then I came to the hands and yelped! I know I have no right to complain since my specialty is stick figures, but the hands are that of a man.
Perhaps look at some of Luis Royo's works and see the way he does hands. Or get a female friend to help you out. I've stood still for many a friends just holding something in my hand. Most should be happy to help! But damn! Do you take requests? I am so impressed!! §
