Description

Many years before I was born, my home state of Rhode Island was mostly farmland and open country. Since then, it has been replaced with what society calls progress. Those beautiful open areas have been replaced with condos, office buildings, malls, and homes. The remnants of those times past can be seen in Yankee stone walls threading their way through the remaining woods and fields along with forgotten burial sites and old rusted farm equipment.
I often wonder how much progress we have actually made.
I was inspired by Marek (Maytree) to take this photo. Recently he had posted a wonderful series of photos taken in the fog.
Thank you Marek.

I know you like me better than AH, so can I have it on my wall, Michelle?!?!

I really like both the versions (b&w and colour). Misty, calm and beautiful. Dreamy look, and the photo also tells a stroy.

Good.

OMG, this is a beautiful shot, the depth the detail, no noise at all a very clean image... looks almost planed. This is great. The color version is also very nice, but I think I like the black and white version better, this is a fantastic fotograph... One of my favorites

Avatar silentstudio

the colored and the bnw version have not much difference, it is a good idea to desaturate everything. i simply love the misty depth of the pic and the melancholy of the broken down equipment.

Avatar emarts

Whoa! Added it to fav list. The tonal value creeping from right to left is great and the darkeness of the structure adds perfect contrast. Nice balance on the left by the dark trees. And I especially like the branches protruding from the darkness of the evergreens. Excellent photo. :)

I love snow in a landscape and think I would go mad if I lived in a place with perpetual sunshine. Sunny places just seem boring as hell to me visually...palm trees, sand, palm trees, sand, idiots on roller blades lol.

I like the oldness of this and it reminds me a little of a place here in UK I used to live.

Wow! What a beautiful image. I'm not sure if I love the black&white or the color version better...on the one hand, the black&white fits the mood better...on the other hand, I just love how the in the color version the only thing in color appears to be the tree. The rest just fades back into the mist so beautifully. Awesome shot!

I have to agree with "Inabottle" - the color is nice, but there's something really nice about the black and white...I seem to feel the cold a little more...hear the quiet more...

I just like the b/w a little more. Like waking up early one morning after an overnight heavy snow. Those moments when time stands still. Very nice work.

Hi there,
Its really nice to see you experimenting on other ways, this got really nice, although i wasnt sure about the branches in the upper-left, but i realized that they fit in well, because makes balance between the dark edges.
So i finally got myself to comment & vote.
Very well done Michelle, great work!
