Cool. Yeah it's fine to use cheap camera as well to create stuff.

One thing you could have done to make it better : wait a second or two... the cyclist would then have been against an almost black background.... This would help him stand out in the picture. Try to think about this everytime you take a picture. It's hard, but it will eventually become part of your picture taking habits...

Look at how clean that area is. A shot from MY town would have three feet of garbage in the alley. Hence another reason to relocate.
