A new artwork from my no1 favorite artist at GFX.
You prove me right: This is an awesome, friggin MASTERpiece.
It reminds me of Terry Pratchet's Death and assistant.
You ROCK, Svetlin!

why only one rose?
why is his hand up behind her...

comments...
I didn't realize till after 5 minutes of looking at this that was a crow on his shoulder.. maybe he needs a tad more highlight or something....maybe a longer tail..
ok some of my questions and comment might sound off... but I am very intrigued by your painting
BRAVO you did GREAT!

one more question where did your inspiration come from for this painting?

This piece REALLY makes me wish i had more points to give! must've taken ages (please say it did... just to give me some hope
only thing i'd comment about is that the colors... i would've liked to see the colours influence each other a LITTLE bit more... but i think that's purely a matter of taste.
all my points and more!

beautiful job,

Thanks for the compliments and for the chits. There are many things that might be other. The bloated belly that is my favorite part from skeletons character. That belly makes him more human, just one human can feel, feelings like love and hate.

I admired this over at CGTalk and think its a strong contender (there are so many great and diverse images in that challenge, i don't envy the task of the judges)
The overall contrast appears a little more severe in this post? Still, brilliantly executed. Well done and good luck in the challenge

I love your painting style- I've always been a fan of the texture in your pictures- it doesn't look as airbrushed as many, many digital artworks do. The colours are rather nice- slightly monochromatic- but it all blends well. ^_^ Lighting is also quite good, though there are some tiny inconsistancies I'll mention in a moment.
I really like the weight of Death- there's weight in his pose, the way his clothing (particularly the boots) sit, and it's looking great. And of course, I love the details. There's plenty in this to keep me looking for a long time yet.
Onto the critiques- all said of course in my humble opinion. ^_^
I think the background could be improved if it were darkened slightly, perhaps pushed further into those purple-hues. At the moment it's distracting me a little from the subject.
The lighting is superb- I can see that a lot of effort has been put into it, and it's paid off. Though I do notice that there seems to be a lack of shadows cast by the thorn bushes, which could have been an opportunity to have fun with some more detailing. Putting shadows in from these bushes could help establish that they are connected with the picture.
The chic's left upper arm (our right) looks a little incorrect- perhaps double-check the muscle structure? I'm not sure.
The crow looks a little too 'cute' at the moment. Perhaps experimenting with more sinister poses for it would be good (without getting 'cheesy', lol). But this is very minor, and of course your creative choice.
I also noticed his 'bloated belly' as looking a little off. It looks a bit like he's stuffed a pillow under there, rather than having had too many beers in his lifetime.
All those points are minor, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's something to keep in mind for your next (winning, I hope!) entry. ^_^ You've created a fabulous piece- something very hard to critique. I hope I haven't just repeated what others have said in the Master and Servant thread- I didn't have time to read it all.

It may just be me, but I find the content just a tad trite. Mmmm, devil controlling a nun.... Not bad, just doesn't do a thing for me.
Aside from my slight disinterest in the content, what an awesome piece.
