It is a manipulation actually, but it is not a manipulation for the manipulations sake but to make a stronger portrait. So the portrait is definately the focus here. I was in doubt when I posted it, and took a look in both genres and what I found was that in the manipulation genre, it was much more manipulation for the sake of manipulation. The maintheme in this pic is not manipulation, it is just a technical detail used to create a portrait, just like color, composition etc. The focus of this picture is the personality/portrait/humans/people etc.

I still think this is the correct placement of the photo, and I judged my best, I am very sorry if have judged wrong!

tks for clarifying. i think that it belongs in the manip section, because regardless of your intentions or the focus/theme of the image, it has undergone major pshop surgery, which makes it a manip. or so i assume anyhow, cuz i havent seen the orig

omni, nah not that much manipulation, there was a heck of alot of boxes there anyways, the only thing that I'd done was to make some more. 2/3 of the boxes was already there It has gone through manipulation, but the theme is figure. Oh these categories confuse me.

If you change colors/contrast etc. in a photo you are also manipulating alot. Should those images be in manipulation then?

as far as i know, color/contrast adjustments (within reason) are not considered manips, but adding to or taking away from a photo is.
