if I may... I think I have seen this photo you used for ref. before
I think the neck is a tad short maybe if the shoulders were brought down a bit
and the yellow high lights in the hair I think are a little much
I know there is probably no way to go back and edit this since you used colored pencils correct?
but its great work good to see some color in your gallery
keep up the great work
*EDIT* ok just looked at the ref.. http://img283.echo.cx/img283/9076/meagain8qc.jpg
yep his shoulders are like that
oh well
still great job
sorry everything I said was before reading your description

Pam : you're right about the neck, I've not enough worked on it , so it looks short

Very, very well done Diane

Maybe, however, the strongly coloured area over his shoulder should have been toned down a little, it stands out a bit compared to the rest.
Anyway, good job with the colour pencils Diane!

Is a wonderful work. I dont care about perspective and all that things.
We must have and open mind. Art is in the artist inner feelings. The rest are only details.

Xris, thank you very much
Buana : sorry if I've been rude in the PM, but I've done this drawing for a friend, it's not "art" with concepts or anything else, it's just a drawing

The fact that Shyam's face is a bit narrower and longer than in your drawing, and that the part between the nose and jawline is a tad bit different, IMO, proves you worked hard on it, did not trace it and in the end achieved an almost perfect Shyam
Great technique of coloured pencils, love the shading, and the hair turned out really good
Thumbs up, Diane

I suggest you don't use a black pencil when you're trying out a new colour pencil drawing, you can create dark values by hatching some green, red, yellow, purple and blue over each other. Try to use black for shading as little as possible. I know it's not always bad to use blacks, but you probably already know; the blacks you see are never entirely black.
I love what you did to the colours, especially the green at his ear and all
It's a great portrait!
+9/9
love
