Description

Dusk's falling on my decadent reality. My everyday landscape keeps drowning, I'm a microscopic orange stain in a rusty universe. I hope you'll come tonight... Surprising thread of my thoughts, my guide and lover, let me cross again the dark frontier of my fantasies! So close but uncertain to reach, this blurry paradise hides behind my eyelids.
Release me... and I'll fade like a drop in the infinite ocean of a dream.
------
My first submission since I have a yellow avatar. Thanks to all of you for that.
------
About that painting:
It is actually my biggest one (it is 1.2 x 0.8 meters wide), and the one I have spent the longest time on. Five months, doing an average half-time work. The fact is that I can't help myself doing those small details that nobody can see. Using a 1-hair brush on a canvas that wide is totally insane!
This is only oil paint on canvas, but before starting to paint I made many sketches, and even a colorized version with photoshop (to set up the right colors).
Here is a <a href="http://mzancan.free.fr/Archive2RoqsMuseum/Graph/DreamingFluid/index.htm" target="_blank">link</a> to a page where you can see sketches and steps.

Also, you don't want to miss the website we opened today

There's another 'Elite' hidden there :)
We've spent one year on it, please stop by and leave a small comment if you like!

since there is no pic of the day yet, why can't this be it?

This is really good. It's way better than the digital stuff that others do. I wish there was a vote +50. The water effect is amazing.

I would not have the patience to spend 5-months on an *oil* painting, no less! That alone deserves a +5. XD My favorite part of the image is the underneath, but it wouldn't be near as impressive without the contrast above.

Hey Zancan, I checked out your site. It's incredible! Just from looks I could have sworn it was all flash. Something thouogh, really bothered me. When I right clicked to see if it truely was flash, it doesn't bring up the flash menu! So it can't be all flash! what on earth, if it's javascript, I raise my hat to you my friend. very bewildering code.

feel free to check mine out. http://www.themystifier.com

It wont look right if you dont meet the requirements.

Hmm...just noticed that the right upper-arm looks a little off and that's why the chick looked funny to me. Her arm is bowed in the wrong direction--the back of it should curve up, not down. o_o

Avatar zancan

 11/26/02 @821

Yes you're right Mirana about the arm. In fact I think that this whole arm is off, too big and too long (it should be shorten because looking towards us)
The hand has no expression too. My skills slipped.......
But now i'm not in the mood anymore to touch this up :/ Lazy guy...

this is the first piece of work i have seen of yours. I must say it inspired me very much, the detial in the piece is amazing. At the time i saw your artwork, i had recently lost my sketchbook. I had felt extremly depressed over it, because like you, i am crazy about detail. When i saw your work, it made me feel a lot better because someone out there puts as much effort, prob more, than i did on my old sketches. So i just wanted to say, thanx, after seeing ur work, it has made me want to draw more and renewed my spirit. Everyone i had spoken to about my lost sketchbook had laughed at me and asked me what the big deal was. I was sure u would understand how hurt i was when i lost it and it was very comforting

i love ur wrk~!!!!!
