Description

Hey everyone, finally a new series from me! Both in color and black and white, this series showcases the Biltmore Estate located in Asheville, NC. Built in 1895, it is America's largest home, a chateau, visit their website. Keep looking back here for more from the series! (I even got pictures inside the house, even though photography isn't allowed, shh!)

This specific photograph was taken in the garden area that connects to the chateau. Hmm.. how to describe it? Well, I feel like falling in love with the scenery and I feel that anyone else could as well. The color across the landscape was a gorgeous blue haze... I'm sorry I didn't have a better camera with me! This one didn't do the scenery justice, but I did my best with what I had at the time. Crits welcome as always.

Cheap Automatic Canon Camera w/no focus/exposure settings
Cheap Kodak film
Scanned w/Nikon CoolScan
Color corrections made in PS CS
(yeh, still no digital camera)

The scenery is awesome, but I'm not very fond of the position of the statue... I like such figures always centralised in the picture, but that might be personal taste. It seems you had a great view from there!

I like the position of the statue. Lovely panoramic view. Its a shame the sky wasn't clearer so we could see th emountains more clearly. That sea of tress looks great.

i love the shot.

especially the emptyness in the middle. it gives me the feeling that there is somthing to be seen.

it gives the illusion of a full and compact space though there is only a void.

i love it!

Very nice composition....the sky is a little too bright for my taste....and I would like to see the feet of the statue.....great details and mood!

Good composition, I would like to see it a little bit darker but still a great shot

I think using a lower position to capture the entire statue and maybe a bit less of the sky, which has no features, would have made a stronger composition. Yes, less exposure would have also helped this greatly but I understand you had no control over the settings using the camera you had. A good shot considering what you had to work with but one that could have been improved with the ability to control exposures.

are you not using a manual camera...eek, i bet you want one soooo bad, you could adjust your white balance, speed up your shutter a bit, and take a kneelling position ...and this would be elite type work...your close, upgrade your camera...

The scenery is beautiful. But it is just a lil bright. I think a morning or evening shot of this same subject would enhanced it... with interesting shadows and ligthing. Good shot though, next time bum a camera off a person with a better camera lol. Just messing... feel free and PM me whenver you have a new work, I dont have much time these days.
