I took a couple shots of this little guy when I was scuba diving at Martha's quarry in Tennessee. He happened to flutter by and I grabbed the camera at tried to get him while he stayed still for a few seconds at a time.

Thought it was neat how he/she decided to hang out with us and not in the greenery that surrounds the rocky quarry. The colors and patterns were what got me!

No! I wish I would have been able to - kept flying around and I was nervous, too! (Probably thought I wanted to eat him/her! ^_^) I want to try to get myself outside more to take nature shots - it's so fun and neat to me.

Beautiful capture...and details on the butterfly....just wonder if changing a little the color or hues of the background would enhance the main subject....and also wonder....what is the butterfly doing among rocks!

Beautiful colored butterfly. I'd crop this a bit tighter, with some cropped from the top and right side so the subject is not so centered and more the main focus.
A good capture nevertheless.

Thanks all! It was difficult to judge where to crop for me, because there were pebbles everywhere. (So I used the 3 or 4 larger pebbles, one of which the butterfly was standing on...) I cropped about half of the actual shot out. (I couldn't get closer without spooking the butterfly!)
