Pluginz.com Giving Away 17” Intel iMac in Matte Painting Competition

Site Challenges Artists to Give England’s Lake District an Extreme Makeover

Pluginz.com, the ultimate online source for plugins and other tools for digital artists, is giving away a 17” Intel iMac, valued at $1299.00, as first prize in its inaugural Digital Matte Painting Competition. Prizes also include gift certificates totaling $1000.00 toward the purchase of plugins and other cool tools available through the site.

Additionally, Pluginz.com plans to follow the Digital Matte Painting Competition with a series of contests for visitors to its 3D, Editing, Visual Effects, Graphics, Layout, Audio and Website Development sites. The first one will be 3D modeling and will be launched mid-April.

The Pluginz.com Digital Matte Painting Competition is open to all digital artists. Entrants are challenged to create a matte painting based on a photograph of England’s Lake District posted on the Pluginz.com website. Artists may use any technique—2D, 2.5D or 3D—to create their matte paintings.

“We’re asking artists to improve the view and turn the landscape into something that is truly exciting,” said Robert Lott, President of Pluginz.com. “Maybe it’s a day-for-night conversion, a sky replacement or a change of season. Or perhaps they might turn it into a Martian landscape—wherever their creativity takes them.”

Entries will be rated by members of the Pluginz.com community using a 1-5 star system. The 20 highest rated entries will be subject to final judging by a panel of Pluginz.com professionals who will select 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
