Nice selection very difficult to choose this time around. One thing about the commentary... someone should proofread it next time on all the first nominations the text is something like joined Month 2005 or Month 2006 and it follows with "This is the first time since march 2004...". Just funny being they joined after the first time they were nominated. Just thought I make a comment about that.

I am not defending Byonder's comment...but I will clarify that he didn't name names and could be talking about anyone. If many are thinking the same thing that that means you are sharing the same perception of an indivual(s) and are just as guilty for this judgement. "walking through the bronx" is not an expression of fortitude... Byonder actually having the guts to name his 'favorite painter' in a community that consistently avoids naming specifics would be a sign of 'net toughness' IMO. Sly remarks with cryptic sarcasm isn't a sign of cleverness but cowardice.

Congrats to all the nominees! I will be on holiday, leaving for my home country tomorrow, and not be back online until 11th June. Whatever the result will be I am sure it's good. I am very happy that I got nominated this time as it means my efforts pay off in some way and there are people enjoying my work, but also won't be surprised if the more seasoned and skilled one in the same category being voted as the elite. Surely an elite artist is "someone outstanding in their category", not "someone outstanding in their category but, er, only if a few other people that are outstanding just happen to have posted several pieces of their work this month". Just imagine if Michael Schumacher got told after the qualifying heat, "Sorry mate, you can't race the championship, you qualified way ahead of anyone else." If one person's good enough for elite, they should go through. If it's two or more it should go to a vote. Let's get rid of this 500 point crap and do it by rolling averages. Simple coding, fairer all round, so how about it.

Hmm, rolling average is a feasable and fair way of determining an artists merit, HOWEVER... it is fundamentaly flawed in that small vote volumes of high point value may not give an accurate snapshot of true worth. Quite simply... a single vote of 10 has a rolling average of 10 (10/1=10), likewise less than 5 or so votes of high value may only be persons who are familiar and understandably psychologically biased through that affinity (we are afterall human, even if we think we are capable of objective voting). Some time ago and after some evaluation I did come up with what I consider the most fair method of determining aristic merit through a points and voting system, the link to my post is as follows (and yes it is long winded so give yourself plenty of time to absorb my litany)...
