GFXartist members invited to create online images for charity

Five international charities have come together to produce a record breaking piece of global art, and have invited GFXartist members to help them kick things off.

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
How can you create a true snapshot of our global society, and sum up its diversity in one single picture? Simple. Get together one million people from all around the world, and get them to work on the picture together in the world's largest ever artistic collaboration. A collaboration where everyone is equal, where all outcomes are valid. Nobody knows what will happen when one million people create a single work of art because nothing like it has ever been tried. Will the result be a crazy patchwork of individual images? Will some larger picture emerge from the chaos? Let's find out!

HOW IT WORKS:
One million people will each be asked to create a small square image. This image is just one of one million images that will make up the entire picture - The One Million Masterpiece.

You need to create your image online, but what you choose to draw is completely up to you. You can choose to make your picture fit in with the surrounding pieces, or make it stand out, by using a preview feature that shows your image with the context of your neighbours. You can change your image at any time if you don't feel happy with it, and you can exchange messages with your fellow artists using our community pages.

The complete picture is set to be printed and unveiled in London on World Population Day 2007 as a symbol of global unity.  To help kick things off, the charities are seeking the help of digital artists and illustrators to register and show the everyone how it's done!

I was so impressed from the idea, that I joined and created a community in Orkut for this project. You can join the community if you are an Orkut member. Find it by its name: Big Picture. Cu there!

Its actually quite a challenge as you can't do anything other than draw with a very basic brush. No eraser or airbrush or anything.

the idea of it being for charity is a noble one but their idea that its a global experiment in different cultures' art etc is a bit flawed when the paint programme you have to use is soooooooo crap. So I dont buy the global experiment line.

it's not about tools. A good artist will create a good piece with any tools. I've entered mine too, but yeah it was hard first
