RazorArt closing down

One of the longest running creative-content websites will soon be closing its doors. RazorArt announced their upcoming closure on February 5th of this month. The site will be officially closing down at the end of February, and after that time, all content will be offline. The main question everyone will be asking is; ' Why? ' For the answer to this question, I suggest you head on over to their site, and read what they have to say.

It's never a good thing to see a community resource such as this disappear, but I for one can certainly understand the reasons behind it, and can sympathize with the owners. Having run a fairly popular site myself once, I can truly appreciate the amount of time, effort, and resources required to keep a site of this magnitude running smoothly. Once the public takes something like this for granted, however, and doesn't attempt in some way to keep fellow visitors in line, chaos is sure to ensue.

The owners, and the staff of RazorArt are very disappointed that it has come to this, but sometimes change needs to happen, in order to keep all involved on the good side of healthy. Most of the crew has had to succumb to the inevitable reality that real life is going to take precedence over an online project, and no web-based project is worth sacrificing friends, family, and peace of mind for. We're all only human after all, and it's far too easy to let projects like this become an obession.

I wish the crew of RazorArt the best of luck in all of their future endevours, and that we may again meet on this virtual horizon. It just serves to help me appreciate more and more the amount of time people dedicate to these sites, and to remember that we should never take them for granted. Make sure to give them a well-deserved pat on the back for a job well done! (thumbup)

Hmm that's indeed quite sad. I was never aware of the things that were going on. Very brave of them to close down the lot, but a shame it had to come to that. Good luck to the staff with their future projects, I'm sure we'll see more of their creations.
