Oh I just realized PST is ahead of my time, so that means it already, techinically is past 12 am of the 14th. But this posting thing is still here, so maybe I was just overanalyzing, and maybe I my first interpretation was right in thinking that the 14th would be the last day to enter. I hope that's the case. Well, guess I'll just go to sleep and try to enter in the morning. Oh I really hope you're still taking entries.

When it says that the contest runs until 12am October 14th, does that mean that the contest ends tonight, or do we still have the rest of the day tomorrow? I saw that it went till the 14th midnight and I thought I interpretted that as meaning that the 14th would be the last day, but I just realized that when it turns twelve tonight it will technically be 12am of the 14th. I hope I'm just overanalyzing this, and we really have the rest of the day tomorrow, because the computer lab I used to paint my piece in is closed tonight, and I won't be able to get in until tomorrow to upload my image.

Hi,
I'm a complete noob at putting my stuff on the internet and I'm hoping someone can help me here. I recently registered and signed up for the 2 dollar account here, so that I could enter my artwork for this competition. The problem is that for some reason I'm only able to upload the 200x150 thumbnail. The other two keep coming up with an error(red cross in box). Their sizes and file formats are correct, so, that's not the problem. I've emailed their support here several times now and although they're very polite, they haven't been able to resolve it yet. There's only a couple days left for this competition and I'm feeling bummed that I'm not going to be able to get my piece in! So, if anyone has any suggestions or help I would be most greatful!
Thanx!

Thanks Dave, yeah, I just don't want to end up with a 3 meg jpeg compressed down from a 80 meg file. Work large nothing under 155dpi.

Fish you may be in the wrong forum.

Hey Ed. If you have started working at the 155 dpi resolution, that's fine, and will not put you at any disavantage. The main consideration is to work large 19x23 inches whether that be at resolutions of 155, 175, or 300dpi.

A little confused on this resolution issue: You mention the 175 dpi yielding a typical 51 MB image.... I have been working at the original announced resolution -155 - and there is a lot of completed detail. Resampling only that little bit would mean a lot of repainting. But I think your answer to shadowgirl was that the net file size (anything over 35) was more important. Did I catch that right? I'm not asking you to explain the technology at your end, but I would have thought the qualitative measurement (resolution) would have ruled over the quantitative (file size.) Even if I did get that right, will an artist submitting a lower resolution file be competing at a disadvantage?

Template set up:

If you want to use the template as a starting point, open the jpeg file in PS or wherever u work. Uncheck keep aspect ratio, change the Width to 37.5" Change the Height to 31" and the ppi (dpi) to 175. The pixel equivelant is Width 6563 & Height 5425 @ 175dpi.

After doing this I crop the image to a managable rectangle with a 1" bleed around the edge out side of the guides and convert to CMYK with the setup as metioned above.

Hope this helps out.

nerd. front only.

don't know how the dimensions got screwed up.

shadowgirl. anything over 35megs is fine.

vacher. it still says 23H 19W but it is switched from the rest (19W 23H)

Dave. can u fix that.on #7 in guidelines the last line, "you must at the very least work in a 23Hx19W 175ppi rectangle. "

Just switch the 23"H & 19"W it may confuse ppl.

X. god help u =)

shadow. it is in bold at the top.

Once again good luck all.

Just to note: In the original guidelines that were posted.. it was 24H and 19W.. and at only 155 dpi.. you might want to bold the change there to 175dpi...

Hi Vacher. From an earlier question regarding credit, and artist promotion:

We clearly state on every T-Shirt we print, the artists name. It actually reads ©2003 JOHN DOE or who ever the artists or owner of the work may be. There is a reason why we don't publicize the artist's name any more in our catalogs or on the website. We have become the "Successful Company" that many competitors want to copy. So we try not to make it as easy as
possible for them to find the artists we work with. We try and let the retail or catalog company promote the artist.

We have been copied many times and since we have stopped linking and publicizing the copying has seemed to be shrinking.
I don't know if our policy on this is good or not. I always want to publicize the artist as much as possible but it's just not policy right now. But if anyone contacts me I send them in the direction of the artist or their rep for additional product information.

Just a note: in the guidelines, I think you inverted the sizes related to height and width: shouldn't it be 19"W x 23"H, instead of 19"H x 23"W?
