New servers for GFXartist are live!

The upgrade to our new server setup has been completed. Though some tweaking may be done the upcoming weeks, most of the work is now completed.

GFXartist has sustained with one server for over 4 years. Last week we found that this was no longer possible. Therefor we've adjusted our complete server setup to one (we hope) that has much more power to serve all the pages.

For those that are interested in our setup, here is the overview:

Pain and Panic are both Dell Servers equiped with 2 XEON processors each, one will be our main database server and the other will function as php parser and image server. For future use we have also installed a Load Balancer in front of the servers, but because using this feature will involve a serious GFX code redesign we will have to wait a little longer.

Pain and Panic Setup:
DUAL XEON 2.0 GHZ 1GB RAM
2 x 73 GB SCSI 10.000 RPM Drives

Now GFXartist has 16.0 GHz (multithreaded) 2GB Ram and 292 GB of HD Space.

I'd like to thank both Marvin (brothers in art) and Martijn for their help with getting us setup with these new servers. It have been 2 long days for all of us

as you may have noticed, we have switched servers. We are now in the process of tweaking the config so expect to see some errors now and then.
