Blender is open sourceThe Blender foundation has made it, they raised the 100K which was needed to release sources of blender in the public domain. A couple of months ago after NaN went bankrupt, the shareholders decided to release the sources of Blender 3D under the GNU GPL licence, and wanted 100.000 euro in return. The Blender foundation was set-up with the purpose of raising the money. Now, 5 weeks later, they managed to do it. The plans are to buy the blender source officially on October 1th. Then the first realease for members will follow shortly. Two weeks later the rest of the world will get the oppertunity to download and edit the codes of blender. The programmers are still looking for money to set up a blender portal. Congratulations Blender Foundation! |
