Running Away - A school project

While taking a peek for some cool news over at InsideCG I noticed they posted a link towards a pretty damn nice short CG movie called "Running Away". It was completely made in 10 months by a French guy for a school project. To create the movie he used tools like 3dsmax and Maya 5 (rigging, modelling, texturing and rendering), Combustion 2 (compositing, visual fx), Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator (texturing), Adobe Premiere (video editing) and Sony Sound Forge (sound editing). The hardware used for this project consists out of a single box powered by a Pentium 4 CPU with 3 Ghz of processing power, 2 Gigs of RAM and a Geforce FX 5900 videocard for the graphics.

Here is a little synopsis taken from the website "David and Flavie are in love. Unfortunately they are from two different families. While David is on his way to find his soulmate, his own father will take care that they won't meet."

Here are some shots from the movie to wet your appetite a bit:

If you are done gazing at them then you can download the whole movie in different resolutions from this page on the official website.

the movie is (like it was said before) AWSOME. the camera work is just unbelievable... atmosphere too... only thing i have against is the some of the character animations... facial expressions are good, dough people walking etc is a little bit poor... if the guy who made it could only get some friends to do the voice acting it would be extraordinare.. all in all this is (i repeat again) AWSOME work for one guy.

I'd like to see you in action when you'll be running your business. If Rob Donaldson could make your busta and then gave it to me, I'd have something to bow before ;)

This is a pretty sweet flick, even with the kid pulling those impossible & implausible stunts it was a good flick. The soldiers could've been less transparent though, I mean you've got them basically moving around like the Marines in Halo.
