Nomination TurmoilThe June 2005 elite nomination has been surrounded by several issues from copyright violation to votefraud. While certain issues have surfaced in the forums, I think it's important everyone understands what's going on and what happens next. ---- Update ---------------- Please resubmit your votes if you have voted for either Maham or Ei-en. See the news post: Nomination adjusted. -------------------------------- The recap The trouble started with elite nominee Maham who undeservingly got recognition as a skilled photographer by submitting photographs of others to the galleries. The artwork was taken from several truly talented photographers at DigitalPhotoContest.com including Anupam Pal, Heather McFarland, Bob Jones, Mary-Ella Keith and Jim Zuckerman. We have obviously banned her from GFXartist.com and removed all the artwork. A while ago one of the members who already had a troubled history at GFXartist signed up again, Ei-en. Ei-en was disqualified last year in the May nominations due to incorporating pieces of other peoples art in his work without giving any credit. After a few talks then and recently when he activated his account again I gave him the chance to do it right. While the artwork we submitted may all be his own, he operated a rather large amount of extra accounts to rig the current elite nomination. Since this is also unacceptable we had no other option but to suspend his account again and for good. Besides these two issues, some more questionable vote behavior surfaces. After inquiries this was traced back to a few enthausiastic fans of an artist. Since the effect was kept to a minimal no further actions were taken. Lastly thedorman seems to have unpublished his works for yet unknown reasons. I am currently trying to find out why. While we normally try to avoid public 'executions', many questions have been raised around Maham and Ei-en. While they may very well be lovely people, they have abused the site and deceived the public. By putting this out in the open we hope people come to understand that such behavior will do you more harm than good. What happens next With all these issues now behind us and resolved. The question is, what happens with the nomination. Many votes have been cast on the members who no longer have active accounts. I'm teaming up with our programmer Martijn to see if we can completely restart the elite nomination. The plan is to at least remove the suspended members and release the votes that were given to them. We hope to complete this today, please stay tuned. |

Now that the idiot is gone, I guess I'll get it (my vote) back anyway.

Although public "executions" aren't really fun at all (for the site-owners ánd for the guests), in these kind of situations it's the only way to clear things up, and make the situation understandable.
Good luck with the next round of actions regarding the recount
Regards,
Joram

so if rules are made, then they must be followed. Period.
personally I hate copyrights, I think everything in this universe and in our minds is already copyrighted to God. we are just messengers.
I know it sounds stupid, sorry about that., but I don't support cheaters.
trying to be someone, makes you no one.
So there's my first post on this forum outta the way.
Good to be here and take care everyone.

I still can't believe how extremely people act when it comes to something like elite status.
I am pretty shocked to say the least..

Ei-en more than deserved a perma-ban...how many times was he going to be allowed back? What was this now, three or four times he's cheated with paint-overs/vote rigging? Just goes to show you that you can wait a while for the member base to change and then pull the same exact crap and it'll sell every single time...
What a joke...

OK - joking apart - its a pity that things have to come to this - one would think that after being offered a couple of chances, a message would have hit home and common sense would prevail - but then again, the term "common sense" is an oxymoron!
As for the GFX team - guys, its a hard thing to do, but it has to be done! Not the most pleasant thing to do - - but given the circumstances, that is the only thing you can do!
